Distress Inks... hmmm.... very distressing....

Hi Ladies...

Today's theme over at Anything Goes is 'In The Garden' ... (with  butterflies).... and I had the perfect Tilda to use which was a gift from a special blogging friend on my birthday.. (thank you hon)... and then I decided as I was 'home alone' this weekend and had lots of time, I would try the Distress Ink colouring that I've been determined to have a go at for over a year!  In fact the materials have been waiting.... and waiting....  and waiting...

Sooooooo I gathered up all the info sheets that I'd collected, the very kind bloggers' emails.... the YouTube tutorials..  took a deep breath....  and tipped my paintbrush in the water!!  It took an hour on Friday afternoon to complete her face.... but I have to admit - I was relatively pleased with that...  then I went onto her hands and knees..... hmmmmm..... her knees look a little suntanned and different colours to each other!

Most of Saturday saw me colouring her dress and hair (definitely not got THAT right), and in fact everything else on the image.  I THEN realised that she's actually sitting down - but had nothing to rest her bottom on.... so I had to create a wall for her to sit on!   Regarding the colouring... I think that I should learn for next time that less is more...  and to try to make the colour I use blend further.  But even though it's not wonderful... (which I would have LIKED it to turn out to be... ), I really enjoyed the painting... and I WILL master it.... I will!

I've got to say a very big thank you to my blogging pal Elaine who has had endless patience giving me colouring advice, and also to a new blogging friend - Debbie Dolphin - who replied quickly to my 'HELP ME' email and was a great source of info and guidance.  No doubt I'll be bothering you both again with more questions until I get the hang of it!

Yes.... it's me... with another Tilda!!

Hi Girls

Hope you're all coping well with this heat....  I know we're always complaining, but it gets a tad TOO hot at times, doesn't it??

Now, it's time for our next challenge at In The Pink...  this time the theme is 'Pink and Pearlie'...  so I decided to make it very girlie too (poetry there methinks)...  and to play with one of the new release little Tilda's I bought a few weeks back.  (Yes..... I do have a little stash of Tildas now.... I own up!!  But these new ones were very hard to resist..)

I've been seeing some cards around blogland with the 'no lines' technique, so decided to try that too...  but as I didn't have a pale Memento ink, I just stamped a couple of images first, then used the next one which was by then, pale grey - to colour.

I think I'm OK with it... but not totally sure as it's so different from normal for me....  I will have to practice some to get better!

Materials Used:
  • Image - Tilda with Spitz Pocket
  • Dies - SB Opulent Ovals, La La Land Crafts Banner, PTI Double Ended Banner
  • Papers (swoon..) - Maja Design Sofiero (Limited Edition) - sooooooooo difficult to cut into
  • Colouring Medium - Copics, Flexmarkers, Promarkers
  • Cosmic Shimmer Pearl Glue for Dots
  • Shading - Adirondack Lights Shell Pink
  • Ribbon, Pearls, Glitter Card and Stickles from stash
  • Sentiment - done on PC
I'd love you to join in with this challenge...  pop over to In The Pink to see what the lovely Pink Ladies have come up with for wonderful inspiration...  then get out your pink pens and paper, and enjoy some pink time - I mean.... we all love a bit of pink.... don't we girls???

Big hugs and Happy Crafting..

Yes it IS me with a Tilda....

Hi Best Blogging Buddies...

Yes...... you're seeing right........ tis me with a Tilda image!!  Well, it all started when I was chatting to my good friend Christine (t'other one) the other day, and we were talking about Tilda's and I said I only possessed one, as they're not my favourite ever images - those who know me, know that well!!  Sooooooooo kind lady that she is (and I think issuing me with a challenge at the same time, she immediately inked up some for me and sent me them, along with some fabulous die cuts (more about them later).  Twas lovely to receive such a nice RAK!)

So I set to to do my Tilda proud!  I used Kraft card and Magnolia paper (which I distressed the edges of) that I'd bought from Donacaster show last year, and then the die cut that (because it seemed out of stock everywhere) I persuaded Christine to do some of for me...... I love it!  It's a Cheery Lynn French Pastry Doily Die....  and it's absolutely gorgeous - and now I have it on order!!  I coloured Tilda with a mix of Copics and Promarkers.... shaded too with blues... then glittered her bow and underskirt with Glamour Dust.  The corners are Macarena Corner dies from Memory Box (from Samuel Taylor at Skipton the other day.... yes, ok, I confess,  MORE stash!  Katie at ST's knows now not to say the amount at the till out loud!!..... lovely girl!)  Then a couple of flowers out of felt and using another Cheery Lynn die.  Lastly, I used  a Woodware Butterfly punch and some gems that came from Stamping Bella a couple of years ago!  I think that's all that i have on it - quite a 'busy' card for me!

So don't say I don't ever do Tildas!  Hope you like this one.... I'll do another soon, I promise!

Hope you've all got a nice weekend planned - my OH is off this weekend, but I don't think we've anywhere planned ....  after going to Skipton and Sam Taylors the other day, I can't afford to!!  So maybe just more kitchen planning is in store!

Take care all and have a happy weekend..
Hugs
Christine x
PS... The card looks better IRL than it does on the photos!
