Pretty Peonies

Hi Lovely Bloggers...

Today my card is not for a Design Team... it's made for a special lady.

I love these Pretty Peonies from Mama Elephant, and have been trying to do different designs with them...  but each time I've used them I've coloured them hot pink (which is the colour of the peonies in my garden)..  Hmmm... something to do with my love of that particular colour??

I coloured them with my Kuretake Zig Clean Colour pens - and used my water brush to spread the colour on the petals and leaves.  I always love to use these pens... they're sooooo full of fabulous pigment.  I decided to use the word 'wishing' - a die from Simon Says Stamp - I cut it out twice, then once again from the square, then adhered the three words together.  I'd put foam tape behind the square so that when I adhered the word back into the space - it gives a 3D effect.  Hmmm, that wasn't explained well!

Now, my lovely daughter has loaned me her SLR camera for a little while, so I'm trying to achieve some better photographic results..  I think I'm on the right track but still have a way to go.  But my brain (the few cells that are left!) actually hurts when I try to figure all the different settings...  anyone else have that problem?? LOL!

FLOWER POWER...

Hi Lovelies...

The time is whizzing by so quickly, that it's time for another challenge at In The Pink..  and for me, it's nice to get back to my favourite colour after all the fall colours I've used recently.

This time our challenge theme is:

FLOWER POWER

I decided to use one of my favourite sets of stamps on my cards... this is Mama Elephant Pretty Peonies.  I also dug out my Zig Clean Colour markers to give me the strong pink I wanted.  Peonies are one of my all time favourite flowers - and if you're a keen follower of my blog, you'll have seen my photos of the ones in our garden that are really beautiful when they're in flower.

Card Info:

Sentiment - Pebbles Inc Rub On
Colouring - Zig Clean Colour Markers - Pink, Deep Pink and Pale Green
Sequins for Shaker Element
MFT - Stitched Square Frame Die

I wasn't at all sure when I finished this card whether I liked it or not... it came out differently than I expected - and I think is a little unbalanced.  Hmmm maybe lesson learned!

Hope you'll pop over to In The Pink to join in the Flower Power fun...  You could win a fabulous £15 voucher to spend at Dies To Die For, thanks to the lovely Tracy for her generous sponsorship.

Back soon...

Pretty Peonies - Take 2

Hi there....

I've been doing a little bit of playing again....  I spotted a card by the lovely Laura Fadora recently, and was inspired to try the technique she used which is emboss resist.

I stamped the images with Versamark - then used clear embossing powder to heat emboss.  Then I coloured the images using Distress Ink Pads applied with a sponge.  It's really easy, as you don't have to worry about staying in the lines, as after the colour is applied, the images are fussy cut - and in actual fact, if a tiny border outside the embossed shape is there - it actually looks good!  I used a similar layout to Laura (with some differences) as I was so impressed with her card - thanks Laura!

I used a Tim Holtz stencil sponged through with pale pink on my white card before adding the flowers with 3D foam pads.. then I tried a splatter - which everyone I see makes look so easy.......  well, I haven't mastered it yet, and unfortunately got splatters where I didn't WANT splatters!  Please ignore those!

Pretty Peonies...

Hi Lovely Blogging Friends...

It's time for another challenge at In The Pink - and this time our theme is

BIRTHDAY

I bought this Mama Elephant Pretty Peonies stamp set recently, so decided to use that for my card - peonies are one of my favourite flowers.  I stamped on Bristol Smooth card with Versamark, then embossed with white embossing powder.  I then coloured with my (little used) Zig Clean Colour Markers.  I was reasonably happy with how it turned out...  but need to do more practice with these pens I think.  Also, I used some Tonic Nuvo Jewel Drops on the peonies to look like dew drops - but unfortunately, they affected the colour of the pink underneath them.  Eeeek!  Ah well... the best laid plans of mice and men....

As my photos above look more blue-ish than the colours do in real life, I decided to try for a different photograph on a different day...  and this is what happened.  It was sunny when I took the photo below, and it was a cool day with no sun on the photos above.  Just shows you how the weather can make a difference to the lighting on your photo, doesn't it?
